What’s the time?

It’s bamboo o’clock!   I’ve recently come across these great unisex watches.  The watch dial is made of bamboo, while the strap is 100 % leather. As a result, this stylish timepiece has a very natural look.

Bamboo Revolution uses a Japanese Miyota Quartz and long life batteries.  As a socially aware company, for every watch sold, R10 is donated to Project Rhino KZN.

Bamboo Revolution was born out of the University of Cape Town’s Postgraduate Entrepreneurship course and launched in August 2012.  The team of 6, who all come from various undergraduate backgrounds, worked hard to perfect the unique design of the bamboo watches and ensure the sustainability aspects of the product.

Bamboo is a grass which grows naturally and rapidly in the wild.  Through its growth, it maintains carbon dioxide absorbent properties.   The leather straps,  available in a variety of colours, are hand-crafted and assembled at a local factory in Cape Town.
